Fall + Picot

Fall and Picot (also called fall and edging) is a standard technique to modify sarees for ease of use.

A "fall" border is added at the periphery of saree that lies near your foot. It is sewn at the bottom from inside. The border has a certain width (to subtly match and fuse it with rest of saree) and colour (to match the colour of the overall saree). It adds volume at the bottom of the saree because of which the pleats come well. It also ensures that the saree stays protected from the bottom by any inadvertent wear and tear, that can happen by jewelry worn in the toes.

Picot (also called Pico) is a series of loops of thread done at the either ends of the saree to give it a sound finish and a bit of a volume which eases the draping method. It also prevents the lose threads from coming into existence which might happen when saree is worn and washed many times.
